ATTENTION ALL RURAL HOMEOWNERS
The announcement below in regards to the tipping fees of $32.00 per cubic metre of septic waste disposal has now been postponed until July 2012.
A large portion of the community that were to be affected by this tipping fee increase were not aware of this by-law passing.
The Greater City of Sudbury intends to distribute information brochures to inform the community of this fee increase for septic waste disposal.
Effective January 1, 2012, the City of Greater Sudbury will be implementing a tipping fee of $32.00 per cubic metre of septic waste which is to be disposed at the Dowling, Valley East, and or Wahnapitae lagoons.
What this means to you, the customer, when you have your septic tank pumped a tipping fee of approximately $150.00 will be added to the cost of pumping your tank. The $150.00 collected from you will be sent to the Greater City of Sudbury.
For example, should you pump your 1000 gallon tank after January 1, 2012, the cost for pumping would be $143.00* plus an added $150.00 tipping fee which would cost you an average of $293.00 plus HST.
As a result, Herby Enterprises Limited is encouraging everyone with a septic system to make arrangements to have their tanks pumped prior to January 1, 2012, in order to avoid the additional tipping fee which will significantly increase your pumping costs.
*Cost for pumping may vary depending on distance and volume.
